About Barbell Coffee

Founded in 2020, BARBELL COFFEE is a family coffee roasting company located in Hudson, WI. We are a specialty coffee roaster, which means we use only high-quality single origin, specialty coffee which we roast in small batches. From bean selection and the specialty roasting process to hand-filling, labeling, and sealing, each and every bag of BARBELL COFFEE is handcrafted from start to finish. We do this by sampling and test roasting lots of different kinds of coffee before we land on a final selection that we want to feature for a given period of time. Once we’ve made our selections, we fine-tune the roasting process to create custom roasting profiles to fit each coffee’s unique qualities and characteristics - like where the coffee was grown and the density of the bean etc.

We started BARBELL COFFEE with one goal: Offer high-quality fresh-roasted coffee at an accessible price.

Single origin coffee and specialty coffee isn’t cheap. There’s certain ratings and standards that have to be met for a coffee to classified as single origin and specialty grade. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be affordable or accessible. We figured that there had to be a way to make it work. So we started BARBELL COFFEE as a mission to offer an accessible option to anyone looking for great coffee without breaking the bank. Great coffee doesn’t have to be something you buy on occasion and just leave in your cupboard for special occasions. It’s meant to be enjoyed. And you can do that with BARBELL COFFEE.

Roast to order and handcrafted.

We roast-to-order at BARBELL COFFEE based on our weekly roast schedule. After roasting, each bag is hand weighed and hand filled, hand labeled, and hand sealed, so you know every bag you buy and drink was crafted and created with love, care, hard work, attention to detail, and dedication.

Our name stemmed from our love of early morning barbell strength training sessions (power rack, barbell, plates) and the enjoyable sip of freshly brewed, freshly roasted coffee between worksets. It’s an amazing way wake up. Now, strength training - or any kind of training for that matter - is not a prerequisite to enjoying BARBELL COFFEE. But whether your heading to the gym, to work, reading a book, taking a break from working on a project, camping, or simply enjoying time alone before the rest of the house wakes up, BARBELL COFFEE is meant to be your companion during those special “coffee-time” moments. You know what I’m talking about. Coffee lovers all have them.

Our name BARBELL COFFEE and our slogan, “DON’T DRINK WEAK COFFEE,” signify everything that goes into every bean of BARBELL COFFEE: our commitment to pride in workmanship, hard work, research, quality, and care. This begins with the coffee producer and continues through to the person enjoying the final product.

For coffee lovers at any stage.

We love coffee. And we love talking about coffee. But we also believe that great coffee should be approachable. Nobody actually likes intimidation. So we offer coffee resources and education as a way get the most out of your coffee. Kind of like a coach at a gym. But we’re not going to scream at you.
